Geoff Paull is a Counselling Psychologist and Sport Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (Registration
PSY0001578595). His professional memberships include the Australian Psychological Society (APS); the College of Counselling
Psychologists; the International Positive Psychology Association and the College of Sport Psychologists. Geoff operates his business
as the Geoff Paull Psychology Trust, trading as Wise Psych (ABN 50 831 806 945).
Geoff’s qualifications include an Honours Degree in Psychology from Curtin University and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in
the USA. He has counselling skills gained at Keele University in England, and holds Diploma of Life Coaching; Certificate IV in Training
& Workplace Assessment and Certificate IV in Small Business Management.
The experience Geoff brings to support his clients includes university appointments in psychology and sport, health & exercise science
in three countries; private practice in individual, relationship and family counselling; student counselling at university level; coaching in
both professional and personal development; consulting in sports performance; and operating his own businesses.
The models of counselling and coaching that Geoff Paull applies embrace empowerment of individuals as the essential feature. This
approach borrows from the techniques and strategies of counselling, human development, education and sport psychology. In these,
notions of emotional intelligence, learning processes, motivation, goal setting, communication and interpersonal skills, etc provide
innovative strategies for change and development for individuals, business groups, families and communities. From this client-centred
approach, Geoff's focus is fulfilment - the necessary prerequisite to personal, group and organisational effectiveness.
Geoff is a registered Allied Health Professional with Medicare (provider No 2594003K) to provide services under Medicare's Better
Access to Mental Health Care program. He is also a contract counsellor for the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling
Service providing counselling to eligible Defence Force veterans and their families.
Prior to full-time private practice, Geoff taught counselling (Notre Dame University, Australian Institute for Professional Counselling)
and life coaching (The Life Coaching Institute) to people entering these professions; provided relationship counselling at Relationships
Australia; presented mental health workshops on behalf of beyondblue; provided loss and grief support via SIDS and Kids WA;
counselled trauma victims and witnesses (Davidson Trahaire Corpsych); and was the AFL Players’ Association counsellor in WA. His
last full-time university appointment was as Principal Lecturer in Sport, Health and Exercise Psychology at Staffordshire University in
England. This position followed periods at Curtin University (School of Psychology), Florida State University (College of Health) and
Arizona State University (Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education).
Geoff is required under his registration as a Psychologist to comply with ethical guidelines, professional practice standards and
